For IT leaders
What IT leaders need to know before assigning this course
For IT leaders: Linux servers often run critical web, DNS, and file services, yet day-to-day knowledge tends to sit with one or two senior admins. That creates risk during outages, slows onboarding, and pushes routine work to contractors. Everything Linux helps spread that knowledge across your team.
Role fit: This intermediate course is best for Systems Administrators, IT Practitioners moving into Linux, and new admins a Team Lead needs to onboard. Coverage includes:
- systemd boot targets
- Users, groups, permissions, and special permissions (SUID and the sticky bit)
- Network and DNS troubleshooting
- BASH conditionals
- NFS file services
- Apache, Nginx reverse proxies, and BIND
- tmux and Rclone
Time investment: About 22.6 hours across 14 skills. Most skills run under two hours, so learners can fit them into normal work weeks.
Change-management note: This course is aligned to LPIC-2-related Linux administration objectives while still working well as operational upskilling. For teams with certification goals, Training Managers can pair it with related CBT Nuggets Linux certification training. Newer learners should start with the GNU and Unix Commands skill, because later skills build on standard input/output and file permissions.
How CBT Nuggets supports the outcome: Demos are designed for learners to follow along in a lab environment, so admins practice before touching production. Training Managers can use Playlists to assign only the skills a role needs, such as Apache and Nginx for web admins. Team Reporting lets you track progress across the group.
